|ABC Commission Holds April 2014 Meeting

RALEIGH – The three-member North Carolina Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission met Wednesday and approved a request from the Sylva and Jackson County ABC boards to merge. The combined board will be known as the Jackson County ABC Board as of May 1. Sylva’s voters had approved ABC stores in 1967, and the county-wide election for stores received Jackson County voter OK in 2012. The consolidation is the first among the state’s 168 ABC boards since Taylorsville and Catawba County ABC boards merged in fiscal year 2012.

RALEIGH – Early on the morning of April 6, roughly 30 patrons of the Linton J. Sutton Post 223 of the American Legion in Elizabeth City spilled into the street fighting and trying to remove passengers from a parked car, according to sworn statements received by the NC ABC Commission.

|ABC Commission To Target Underage Drinking

RALEIGH—The North Carolina Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) Commission announced today plans to help reduce underage drinking in North Carolina. April is Alcohol Awareness Month, and the ABC Commission is using the month of April to begin planning a sustained statewide initiative to raise awareness about underage drinking and equip parents and school-aged youth with resources to help fight the problem.
